WE ARE THE 1031 EXCHANGE AUTHORITY

Exchange Authority, LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fidelity Bank and is managed by a team of experts who bring extensive industry experience to the firm. Originally founded by John Kimball, the firm is currently run by John's partner Tim Halligan, CES. 

Timothy G. Halligan, CES® President has 30 years of real estate and exchange experience. He is a member of the Federation of Exchange Accommodators and is currently on the FEA board of directors as well as the committee chair of the membership committee for FEA. HE has served as past president of Central New York Marketing Network, past president of New York State Commercial Investment Division, and past director of New England Chapter of National Council of Exchangers and formerly served on the Board of the New York State Commercial Association of Realtors. In 1993 he was recognized as the New York State Commercial Realtor of the Year. Tim is a national speaker and New York State-certified instructor on exchanges and other real estate-related topics. In October 2003, Tim earned the Federation of Exchange Accommodators designation of Certified Exchange Specialist (CES).

Mark T. Couture, CES® Exchange Coordinator has been with Exchange Authority since 2006. Starting as a Marketing Representative, Mark has built and continues to build relationships with tax, legal, real estate and financial advisors, providing them with critical updates to IRC §1031, scheduling educational seminars, and representing the company at various industry tradeshows, conferences and networking events.

As an Exchange Coordinator, Mark covers a wide range of responsibilities for the company. He continues to build relationships with clients and their advisors, helps them understand the tax and legal nuances with exchanges, and works with them to coordinate their 1031 exchanges.  Mark has also presented to Accounting, Law, Financial and Real Estate firms throughout New England and has been the key speaker for many Real Estate Investor Groups, Property Owners Associations, and Rental Housing Association events and conferences. 

Mark has created a special niche in working with property owners and helping them and their advisors understand the opportunities and options to increase cash-flow, reduce debt-to-equity ratio, diversify their portfolio, minimize occupancy risks, and provide strategies for future considerations.

Marie Dias, CES® Marketing and Exchange Coordinator, Marie became a licensed real estate professional in 1997 and actively worked in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire helping her real estate customers achieve their goals of buying and selling real estate.  
 
Marie began working at Exchange Authority in January 2005 as a Records Specialist and in 2006 took the position of Marketing Coordinator.  With that came a whole new range of responsibilities including maintaining the company website, the creation of our popular Exchange Authority E-Newsletter along with Scheduling §1031 exchange seminars, presentations, writing articles and keeping up with the latest 1031 legislation.

Since that time Marie has worked all aspects of the company from escrow to exchange documentation preparation, and in September of 2010 she sat for and passed the CES® (Certified Exchange Specialist) exam and is on the membership committee for FEA.  
Marie offers §1031 exchange seminars to real estate professionals and CPAs throughout New England and she often meets with exchange prospects to roadmap the §1031 exchange process. 

You can often find Marie attending conferences and networking events throughout New England making sure that Exchange Authority remains the authority on IRC §1031 exchanges.

John Kimball, (Retired) has been involved in the exchange field since 1983. He is a member of the Federation of Exchange Accommodators, the past president of the New England Chapter of the National Council of Exchangers, received the Exchanger of the Year award from the National Council of Exchangers in 1989, and is a national speaker and educator on the benefits and pitfalls of Exchanges and related issues. John has worked as a consultant and advisor to attorneys and accountants and is a specialist in the structuring and analysis of complex transactional matters. John continues to provide Exchange Authority with his expertise on a consulting basis.
